EVENTS

April 2008 – Korean War Veterans Reunion organized by the Royal Australia Regiment Association in conjunction with the Korean and South East Asian Forces members.
 

April 23 -  Cocktail party and Coin and Book launch, hosted by the Lord Mayor
 
April 24 - Kapyong Day Commemoration at the State War Museum.
 
April 24 - Opening of the memorabilia display.
 
April 27 - Barbecue and reunion at Fort Glanville
 
May 3 - Closing of the display.
 

April 1-24  - Television programs will run historical footage as a prelude to Kapyong Day;
 
          
          A new book will be launched during this time frame that covers Australia
          at war in Korea, a black and white pictorial historical book that will
          be available for purchase; and a coin of the realm released by the Mint,
          depicting Kapyong and the 55th Anniversary.
 
          The program will culminate in a commemorative service at the State War
          Memorial..

September 5-6 - KVA Prairie Region Annual Meeting and Reunion, hosted by Unit 67, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 104, Innisfail, Alberta.
 
 September 12-14 - KVA National Convention, Kitchener, Ontario. Registration.

September 21 - KVA Unit 17 Honours & Awards Dinner, Royal Canadian Legion, Rockwood Branch 303.  341 Wilton Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

 


Korea Revisit Program

Must belong to a regular KVA unit or to the General John M. Rockingham Memorial, Heritage Unit #1

First-time visitors only.  Those who have been on a revisit previously, do not qualify.

Must have served in Korea (or surrounding waters or air flights) between 25 June 1950 and 15 October 1954 .

Limited participation.  First-come, first-served.

United Nations Memorial Cemetery Busan

 

The Korean Embassy is looking for relatives of Canadian forces who were killed during the Korean War and who are buried in the UNMC in Busan South Korea. The visit will take place in October

 If you are aware of a relative who would be interested in taking part in this program, could you please forward the information to Paul Rochon, National Revisit Chairman by the end of April he will then pass all of the information on to the Embassy in Ottawa.

 The selected candidates can be contacted directly by the Embassy.
